You are invited to support the Community Kitchen-Feeding the Flathead by participating in a TUG for FOOD on September 13, 2017. The Epworth United Methodist Church of Kalispell is organizing this event.
Why would you choose to participate? Inspired by these words from Matthew 25:37-40 “Lord, when did we see you hungry and give you food? When did we see you thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you lonely and make you welcome, or see you naked and clothe you, or see you ill or in prison and go to see you?” “And the king will reply, ‘I assure you that whatever you did for the humblest of my brothers you did for me.”
The Community Kitchen and Feed the Flathead combined in 2003 to better provide nutritious suppers for those in need. Their guests are people who are having a hard time stretching their budgets to eat healthy meals. All of their staffing needs are filled by volunteers. There are always people behind the scenes serving in one way or another. Some transport food, others do computer work. Impeccable volunteer bookkeepers have kept our records beyond reproach. Our kitchen co-ordination, cooking, serving and clean up staff are all volunteers.
The money raised will be donated to the Community Kitchen-Feed the Flathead organization to help provide meals, buy supplies and pay for a place to serve the meals.
Forming a team to join in this challenge of raising funds is the first step. Team registration may be done on-line at www.epworthkalispell.com/tug-for-food or use the form included in this packet. Participation in the event can be done by forming a team to raise money to support the Community Kitchen-Feeding the Flathead.
On Wednesday September 13 we will meet at Lawrence Park at 5:00 for a light meal, games for children and the “tug off” to determine bragging rights for this great Tug for Food. If your team is one of the top 4 fund raising teams as determined the night of the event when each team turns in the money raised, your team will select not more than 10 of its members to be in a “tug off”.
You can also make direct donations at the event, contribute directly to a team member or donate through Epworth’s web site at www.epworthkalispell.com/tug-for-food or mail to Epworth UMC at 329 2nd Ave East.
